Halton Region helps unemployed and underemployed people in Halton prepare for, obtain and maintain employment. We work in partnership with companies and organizations in our community to obtain information about the latest market trends and employment opportunities.

We can help you get the skills you need for today’s job market through our job placement and skills training programs. We can also support you to start your own business, complete high school, enroll in post secondary education or a training program, improve your language skills and upgrade your reading, writing, math and computers skills. Eligibility:To participate, you must be 18-29 years of age, not attending full-time school or training, and eligible to work in Canada.

Employment Supports for Newcomers

Are you a newcomer looking to network with others
in your field of interest? Get connected to volunteer
and mentorship opportunities through the Halton
Connects program!

The Halton Connects program:
• supports your short or long-term career/
employment goals;
• helps you make social and professional
connections through volunteering and/or
mentorship; and
• increases your communication skills and
understanding of life in Canada.

Eligibility: To participate, you must be a
permanent resident of Canada, protected person
or a convention refugee with valid work permit. Ukrainians who arrive in Canada under the CUAET immigration stream are
also eligible for the program.

The next Halton Connects program cohort is scheduled to run on January 29-February 2, 2024 (5 days) from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm.
